Concert · Quarteto Ocidental
Few musical dialogues are as perfect as that of a string quartet conversing with the ease of those who know one another by heart. It is this intimacy that the Quarteto Ocidental brings to the Cardaes, in an evening where the convent's gilded woodwork, stone and azulejos become a resonating chamber.

From the Catacombs to the Cardaes — a journey through the Baroque
Before they were the corpi santi venerated today, they were forgotten names in the catacombs of Rome. This visit follows their trail: from the underground galleries where the first martyrs rested to the gilded woodwork of the Cardaes — a journey through the Baroque and through the devotion that brought these holy bodies to Portugal. A route that extends and deepens the exhibition Santos Corpos.

The Many Marys of the Cardaes
On the day of the Assumption of Our Lady, a visit through the many Marys who dwell in the Cardaes. A convent founded under Marian devotion and inhabited, over more than three centuries, by a community of women, this house holds a multitude of Marys — in the many devotions to Our Lady that mark the community's piety, in the images that the woodwork and the azulejos give back to us, and in the religious women themselves who made of enclosure a way of life.
